November Earnings Report - How I made £2,731.24 in November 2020

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all have a great November.
I wanted to follow up my October Earnings Report with an update as to how things are progressing with me using this subreddit to earn some Beer Money :)
Straight off the bat I would like to say a big thank you to everyone in this community that has helped me achieve a big month of Beer Money earning. I would like to say thanks to everyone that has clicked on one of my referral links this month, it is super appreciated!!!
This month's Beer Money far exceeded my expectations. November was my second full month of using Beer Money UK.
I am surprised but really pleased to have earnt £2,731.24 in November. Most of this has been from referrals to many thanks to all the BeerMoneyUkers that made this possible.
I am surprised again it was so high. I knew I was going to beat last month's £774.25, (I was hoping to double it), but I have exceeded my expectations. I think it again shows that every little helps. A big part of this months earning have been from Zumo. I think the best offers are the ones that d not require any deposits. This makes them accessible to as many people as possible. I have earned over £700 this month from Zumo alone.
Hopefully by letting people know how I managed to earn over £2,700 this month other people can put in place steps to earn similar. I Appreciate the economy is still rubbish and lots of people are being made redundant or having hours reduced. There are lots of people out there that could with a few extra pounds to make ends meet. I am happy to answer any questions anyone has. At the least i can tell you what has worked for me. Please feel free to ask on the comments below or DM me.
Last time I received a couple of comments asking me for the amount of time it took.
It took me 50-60 hours this month.
I started on this path as a way to make a bit of extra money due me having my hours per week reduced by 20 due to Covid. It was a bit scary thinking about how the bill were going to be paid. Now I am a lot more optimistic about things. I am quite enjoying working from home and doing things Beer Money related. I am not sure if this month will be a bit of a fluke. I am going to see how things go with December before setting some Beer Money UK goals / new year resolutions for 2021.
I am still pretty much exclusively making use of the sign up deals on this site. I have not done any of the remote work ones yet.
Please see below the table below showing where the Beer Money has come from. I have also added proof where possible.
A few points to note:
Some tips:
Here is a list of the Beer Money earning I received this month. I have totaled up how much someone would receive if they just signed up for everything and it is over £420 just in sign up bonuses.

I am 27 years old, I make $100,000 a year, I live in Houston, Texas, and I work as an attorney

I am 27 years old as of today! As I wrote this diary, I realized that my life is pretty boring right now. I also didn't get too deep into my work, because attorney, and because it's pretty boring this week.
I wish we could have more in savings right now, but I never came from an enviroment that encouraged responsible savings, nor have I ever had the privilege of having enough to put in savings. Until now. My husband has come from a place of privilege, so he's gotten to see firsthand what it's like to not have it.
Section One: Assets and Debt
Retirement Balance: $6,622.23 in a 401K I get through work. I just started qualifying for the 401K in April of this year. I contribute 10%. My employer does not match anything, unfortunately. I’m not sure how much my husband has in his teacher account. Additionally, I have $1,300 in a Roth IRA I started at my old job which had no benefits. I haven’t contributed to my IRA in a few months because…
Equity if you're a homeowner: We just bought a house at the end of September! We did not intend on buying a house yet, but an offer came up in my hometown that was too good to pass up. We bought the house for $120,000, we put down about $6,500, and the house is estimated to be worth about $180,000 without any repairs (of which it needs many.) We do not intend on living in this house, because I don’t want to live across the street from my parents. Hopefully, repairs will be done before the end of the year and we can start getting renters in. The current plan is to rent it out for a year, and then sell it.
Joint Savings account balance: $1,000.00. See above. We’ll work on replenishing this once repairs are done.
Joint Checking account balance: $11,588.05 in our joint account on the date of publishing, following receipt of my $8,000 bonus last month. We are about to pay $8,000 to fix the foundation in our house, so we have everything in our checking account. Additionally, we’ll have to pay for labor to pull out the rugs, paint, etc. And we need to buy new appliances because the appliances in the house are definitely the original from 1968.
Credit card debt: None. Everything is paid off monthly on both accounts. I think we both individually pay about $2,000 per month on our credit cards. Sometimes less, rarely more. I don't ask him what he buys, and he doesn't ask me either.
Student loan debt: $218,719.16 for my undergrad (about 9K left) and law degree (the rest). I am a first generation college graduate and my parents had nothing to provide me except their love and support. They always told me education was the most important thing, and for that, I am eternally grateful. It’s just another payment, and I wasn’t going to let that stop me from living the life I wanted. For now, I am on an income based repayment plan and hopefully it will be forgiven in 2030.
My husband has no student loan debt, which is great because I have enough for both of us.
Extra: My husband has a trust left behind by his grandpa. He has never touched it, and does not have plans to, until maybe we buy the house we will actually live in.
Section Two: Income
Income Progression:
I got my first job in college because I was a young graduate and never had a high school job. I worked at the university dining hall making 8.50/hour. It was a glamorous year. The following two years, I worked for an attorney in town and decided that I wanted to go to law school. I made 10/hour for about a year and a half, and then 12/hour when I graduated and kept working there until I left for law school.
During law school, I did not work, because it was just not feasible. I had internships in the summers, of which three were paid. One was a federal judge internship, where I was paid a stipend at the end of the time, and they also paid for parking. One was back at the firm I worked at in undergrad, and I got paid a lump sum to be a legal assistant for half a summer. The third was at the city attorney’s office, and they paid $20/hour. I had never gotten paid that much in my life and I was thrilled.
Out of law school, I started working at a plaintiff’s law firm, and I made $55,000 until I passed the bar, at which point, I got a raise to $80,000. I hated being a plaintiff’s lawyer, and got out after six months. After that, I worked at an insurance defense firm, where I made $65,000 for six months as a trial period, and then $80,000 again. That firm environment was not healthy, and I got out after about a year and a half. I was unemployed for about three months and got by on my savings. Then I got the job I have now, where I bill less hours, and make more money. I have been at this job for a little over a year.
Main Job Monthly Take Home:
5,552.04 (me) 3,331.96 (h) after taxes, health insurance (we each pay our own), etc.
Side Gig Monthly Take Home
We both tutor (him math, me English) on the side with a friend who organizes it all. Our profits have increased each month since we started. In August, we made $190, in September we made $593, and in October we made $775. Current November profits are $916 and the month is only halfway done. I anticipate that this number will keep increasing as we get more students. This money is used on house expenses. Maybe after we get renters in, this money will go towards student loans.
Any Other Monthly Income Here
None yet! Hopefully our time as landlords starts soon!
Section Three: Expenses
Rent / Mortgage / HOA fees: $1,900.00 in rent for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1100 sq. ft. apartment, including all water, sewage, valet trash, and pet rent. $1,015.00 for our mortgage while we are repairing and having to pay for it on our own, and no HOA fees. Once we start renting the house out, we will not have double payments.
Renters / home insurance: Renters is $35.23/month. Home insurance was paid for the first year as part of closing. It was $1,200 for the first year.
Retirement contribution: none that wasn’t previously discussed.
Savings contribution: TBD once the house is done. It was previously around 10% of my paycheck and I think my husband contributed the same.
Investment contribution: TBD once the house is done. It was previously $75/month. I also have an acorns account that probably gets about $15-20/month. It currently has about $220 bucks in it, but I have had to withdraw from that account when times were hard.
Debt payments: Currently nothing. Focusing on the house for now.
Donations: I donate $10/month to the ACLU. We also foster kittens through our local shelter.
Electric: $102.39 last month. This bill is starting to go down now that it’s *finally* cooling off
Wifi/Cable/Landline: $50.27/month
Cellphone: $70.66/month for me. My husband is still on his parents’ plan.
Groceries: We spend about $60/week on grocery delivery from Imperfect Foods. Every couple of weeks we’ll go to the grocery store and pick up anything we didn’t get delivered. Those days can range from $40-$100, and it’s only every few weeks.
Gas: Maybe $50/month? My commute is short, and I don’t go to any other places anymore.
Eating in: $40-70/week. We’ll order food once a week. It helps me feel normal and not like my life is a never ending series of cooking and cleaning.
Subscriptions:
Netflix: $14.99. I pay for it for myself and my parents and brother
Hulu: $11.99. Same
Spotify: $14.99. Family plan for me and my husband because he didn’t use spotify beforehand
HBONow. I think it’s $15.00. My husband pays for this
We mooch off of someone for Disney+
Book of the Month: $10.00/month. I love to read, but at a truer level, I love to own books. I will never get through my reading list, but I’ve come to terms with it.
NYTimes: $6.38/month
Winc: $60.00/every other month
Gym membership: $42.22 for the Peloton classes, and $74.78 for the bike itself. I got it for 0% APR and it will be paid off in three years. If it were not for the house, I would have paid this all off already. It’s been a great purchase and I fully recommend it.
Pet expenses: between $80-100/month. The cats are bougie and get fancy food from PetCo. One is also fat, but we’re still working on that. This may increase depending on if we have fosters, which we do right now.
Car payment / insurance: My Rav4 payment is $334/month and car insurance is $90/month. My husband’s car is paid off and I think his dad still pays the car insurance because it’s cheaper that way. (P.S. if anyone has advice on refinancing your car, please share! The thought terrifies me)
Regular therapy: I think my insurance is covering my co-pay right now because I am not paying anything for therapy right now.
Paid hobbies: None. The Peloton is my paid hobby.
I’d like to note that most of my expenses are paid on my credit card and then paid off every month. I may not be able to use those sweet, sweet points yet, but once we are free, I’ll be at an airport as often as possible.
Section 4: Money Attitudes
Was there an expectation for you to attend higher education? Did you participate in any form of higher education? If so, how did you pay for it?
Yes, there was always the expectation that I attend university. My parents both immigrated to the US in their early 20s and did not attend college. They both always told me that education was the most important thing, and the only thing I could take with me. In application, this got a little more complicated because my parents did not know how higher education worked. I had to do all the research regarding college applications, the SAT, scholarships, FAFSA, etc. because they didn’t know how any of it worked. When I applied for FAFSA the first time, my mom had me sit down and read all the fine print to make sure I knew what was happening. However, once I applied to law school, my parents asked why I didn’t just go to law school, and why I had gone to undergrad. It took some explaining for them to realize that I needed a Bachelor’s degree before going to law school. I had to pay for all of it through loans.
Growing up, what kind of conversations did you have around money? Did your parents educate you on finances?
My parents were not great, and still are not great, at finances. I knew my mom spent too much money on the credit cards, and my dad has frequently pulled out of his 401k. My dad told me too many details about the household finances that I did not need to know as a child.
What was your first job and why did you get it?
I got my first real job in college because my parents could not support me.
Did you worry about money growing up?
Constantly. See above for my dad using me as an emotional support daughter.
Do you worry about money now?
In theory yes, because I’ve never known how to not worry about money, but in practice, I recognize that I am living a life my parents could have never dreamed of, and I am not irresponsible with my money. I could stand to be a little more frugal, but I worked hard to enjoy my life now, not later.
At what age did you become financially responsible for yourself and do you have a financial safety net?
I became financially independent at the age of 17, when I got dropped off at my dorm. My parents gave me $200, and that was it. I think they may have bought me groceries once after that.
Section Five: DIARY TIME!
Tuesday 11/10
6:30 a.m.
I asked my husband to wake me up early because the foster kittens needed to go to the vet. Quarantine has wrecked any aspirations I used to have about being a morning person. Now I am bitter and groggy. He kisses me goodbye, and goes off to work.
6:45 a.m.
Okay, I’m up. I feed the foster kittens, feed our cats, and do some chores I will not have time to do later today, mainly dishes and general clean up around the apartment.
7:15 a.m.
I get dressed and make myself breakfast. Two eggs, two vegan bacon slices, and an avocado. I let the kittens out for a while so they can get some energy out.
7:50 a.m.
I’m off to the free vet at the animal shelter. The kittens have had soft stool for a while, but since they are older than the ones I normally get, I hoped they would resolve it on their own. Alas, they did not, and it is time to get it resolved. While driving over there, I make some calls for my volunteer work which I have not had time to make previously. I volunteer with Child Advocates, which is the Houston branch of CASA. Three calls total, and that’s off my plate, finally.
8:30 a.m.
No one has come out to help me at the shelter, so I have to get out to find someone.
9:00 a.m.
Medication obtained, and I need to go back home to administer medication and drop them off.
9:20 a.m.
Kittens medicated, and I’m off to work.
9:30 a.m.
Work! Why they made us come back into the office is beyond me, but at least I get my triple screens.
10:00 a.m.
My husband is a teacher, and I asked for his google classroom link because I just wanted to hear his voice during the day. We’ve both been going through it lately, so the support is appreciated on his end as well. I keep his algebra class on in the background while I work.
11:30 a.m.
My mind starts to wander, and I open ASOS to browse. I buy a dress that I’ve been eyeballing for a few days, and I justify it as a birthday present to myself. I can probably wear it to work.
$89.95
12:45 p.m.
I’ve put off eating long enough. I go downstairs to the cafe and get a salad and some chips. I am participating in a weight loss challenge at work, so I try to eat healthy. I also run into my coworker downstairs and we chat on our way back up. I also FINALLY fill my water bottle today. I’m permanently dehydrated, it’s fine.
$8.96
1:45 p.m.
My husband’s geometry class. I sit in again, and even participate a little bit!
6:00 p.m.
Time to head home. I’m beyond exhausted. And I should still have a long night ahead of me. Instead, I drive around the neighborhood park for Pokémon Go related reasons and it makes me feel better.
6:45 p.m.
Normally on Tuesdays, I spend the whole night logging my billing. I should do it as I go, this I know, but I hate doing it and I don’t want to. So I do it on Tuesdays and usually spend the entire evening doing it. Right now, I would rather sit and cry, but instead, I start making pasta sauce for spaghetti squash.
7:00 p.m.
I turn on Dancing with the Stars and all three kittens fall asleep on me. I am trapped forever now.
8:00 p.m.
Dinner time! Homemade sauce with mushrooms and greens, all on top of spaghetti squash. I make sure to have plenty for leftovers. My husband and I turn on game shows because it feels like a mindless tv night. Billing? Who is she? I will regret this later. Meanwhile, my husband and I talk about how down we’re feeling, and try to make each other feel better. They say the first year of marriage is the hardest, but nobody planned for a global pandemic.
10:00 p.m.
I do a face mask for the first time in forever. My skin went to absolute shit after switching to the mini pill in May, and I finally went to the dermatologist to fix it. It’s been about a month and a half with spironolactone, Epiduo, and sulfur face wash. My skin purged terribly, and I could not stop picking at it. So I do a brightening face mask to help even out the skin tone. My husband records a video for class, and I keep Jeopardy on in the background. RIP Alex Trebek. Around this time I stare at my briefcase some more. This is the first time in eight months I have not done my weekly billing timely and I feel the laptop boring into my soul. However, the exhaustion goes down into my bones. There is no shaking this. I’ve been feeling like this for a while, and my therapist said it was probably depression. She also frequently tells me to do self care, which I am terrible at. With all this in mind, I resolve to be okay with not billing tonight and just exist for the rest of the night.
11:40 p.m.
I start getting ready for bed. Nighttime face routine, brushing teeth, feeding kittens, and putting the food away. I’m exhausted, and I go to bed.
Daily Total: $98.91
Wednesday 11/11
8:00 a.m.
I barely registered when my husband left this morning, and I start to come into consciousness. This is a more normal start time for me. Yes I got eight hours of sleep, but I do not feel any less tired.
8:12 a.m.
My birth control alarm goes off so I have to get up.
8:17 a.m.
I check my work email and see that I missed a call from someone I needed to speak with ASAP. I call him from my cell phone. He doesn’t need to know that my hair is sticking out like a Cynthia doll and that my vision is still blurry. I get things resolved, all is good. Meanwhile, I feed the cat squads and pop some waffles in the toaster. I promptly forget about them and shower quickly. I grab the waffles after showering, taking the rest of my meds, moisturizing, brushing teeth, etc etc. As I’m about to head out the door, I realize I still need to medicate the kittens. I do that quickly, and head out the door.
9:10 a.m.
I’ll be real. I don’t feel bad about leaving for work after 9. My commute is exactly 10 minutes long and they don’t care when I show up, as long as I do the hours. Being a lawyer has plenty of stress and exhaustion, but this part is pretty chill.
9:20 a.m.
Oh look, I’m at the office.
10:00 a.m.
I log in to see my husband, but apparently he left work early because he didn’t feel good. I text him to see if he needs anything.
As I work, I munch on some pomegranate seeds that I cut out my poms last night. Why did I wear white pants today though?
12:30 p.m.
Lunch time! I heat up some spaghetti squash and sauce and go back to my office. All the legal assistants were sitting in the break room and it was too many people for my comfort. To be fair, all the legal assistants sitting together was already too many people for my comfort before the pandemic.
2:30 p.m.
Zoom call with a client for deposition prep. It goes fine, no issues. This is important.
3:30 p.m.
Deposition. First half hour, the client could not get the sound to work, so I just called him on my cell phone and put that up to my computer to work as the sound. We get through half an hour of deposition and then his phone dies. We try to get him back for twenty minutes before we just call it and agree to reset. I am mortified. It’s not my fault, but I’m still the lawyer and we take responsibility for the mistakes. I call my boss and let him know what happened.
5:45 p.m.
After that debacle, I work a little bit longer and then head home to make sure my husband is okay. As I pull into the parking lot, I note there is a food truck downstairs! My husband said he wanted to order food tonight, so maybe we can do this instead so as to not pay for delivery fees.
6:00 p.m.
Tutoring! This student has a test on Lord of the Flies tomorrow, so we go over her test review. I read Lord of the Flies in the eighth grade, so I tried to skim over it before tutoring, but I do have to rely on Sparknotes for some details. I can easily discuss themes with her, and she feels much better.
7:00 p.m.
My husband went downstairs while I tutored and got us dinner on his credit card. He is tutoring a different girl now for math, so I eat half my veggie burger while he works. I lay down on the sofa and read Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby for a while.
9:30 p.m.
Time to turn on the Bachelorette. It’s Tayshia’s first episode, and we’re ready for it. My husband is also a little in love with her, and I completely understand. Honestly, same.
Sometime around 11:45, I doze off on the sofa. My husband gets me up and I relocate to the bed without brushing my teeth or moisturizing. It’s one of those nights.
Daily total: $0 from me. I didn’t ask how much the burgers were.
Thursday 11/12
7:30 a.m.
I wake up feeling surprisingly rested. Maybe I’ll do a quick ride on the Peloton!
7:50 a.m.
LOL nope. I fell asleep again. But this time, I resolve to at least do an arm workup for the tricep challenge on peloton. I feed the cat parade first and turn on a 10-minute class. After that, I get dressed, and even put on makeup! Man, I feel like a woman. I balance this out by running out of time to eat breakfast. Oh well.
9:10 a.m.
Work! I left a pear here, so that’s my breakfast.
10:00 a.m.
Joining the algebra class again. They’re learning the formulas for horizontal and vertical lines and I actually remember this! But my office neighbor is here and in a hearing, so I keep the volume down low.
12:10 p.m.
Lunch! More leftover spaghetti squash. It was a huge squash and I’m getting as many meals out of it as I can.
12:39 p.m.
After three and a half days, I finally finish medical record review in one case. Time to move onto medical record review for a different case. There are more records in this one.
2:45 p.m.
I’ve gotten through two hundred more pages, so I go make some matcha. I keep a jar of matcha green tea latte mix from Trader Joe’s at work so I can make that whenever the mood strikes.
3:30 p.m.
Not so embarrassing confession: I still play Pokemon Go. I rarely spend money on it, but I don’t have a remote raid pass, so I put up the ninety-nine cents to get it.
$0.99
6:00 p.m.
I work until 6, at which time I have therapy. I stay at my office for therapy, because I’m too lazy to drive back home beforehand. We talk about the holidays, fears, my parents, and continued burnout. I resolve to talk to my husband about not going to his family’s for Thanksgiving.
7:00 p.m.
Therapy’s done, so I pack up and go home. I leave my work laptop at work because I need to be better about boundaries.
7:30 p.m.
My friend wanted to do a ride together on the Peloton. I let her pick, which was a mistake. She chooses an Alex Toussaint ride and we nearly die. While we ride, I ask my husband to peel sweet potatoes and press tofu. I should have asked him to press tofu earlier, but I didn’t figure out dinner until an hour ago.
8:00 p.m.
I boil the sweet potatoes and start making sauce for the tofu. Sauce is miso, fig jam, peanut butter, soy sauce, and honey. *Chef’s kiss* I also boil some ears of corn. Once I mash the sweet potatoes, I grab a mandarin and juice it. This is the best dinner I’ve made in ages. Baked tofu with miso sauce, sweet potato mash with orange juice, corn, and salad. I’ve peaked. While we eat, my husband and I talk about the holidays. He has students in person again, aside from the online classes, so he can’t realistically isolate anymore. His parents are older, and his brother just had a baby. We know his family really wants to see us, but it’s just not safe. The US just hit 150,000 cases today.
We make the call to my mom first, because we had previously discussed taking my 14-year-old brother. My parents are not very celebratory this year (heyo therapy), so we wanted to make sure he was fed. My mother understands. This was the easy call to make.
Then we make the call to his mom. We express our concerns, and she is much more understanding than I thought she would be. We also mention that Christmas will likely not be possible, but we know this will be a longer conversation to have with her later.
Finally, my husband calls his aunt. That conversation is not as chill. Biggest thing is that she assumed I don’t want children because of my career and that women can be lawyers and have kids. She did not know she was on speaker. I am LIVID.
After all these calls, I finally shower, do my nighttime routine, feed kittens, and get ready for bed.
11:00 p.m.
Bed time. Except that the big cats get all grumpy and are fighting with each other, so they keep us up for a while. UGH
Daily Total: $0.99
Friday, 11/13
8:00 a.m.
Not as rested as yesterday, not as tired as Wednesday. I’ll take it. Same old morning routine: cats, clothes, etc. Today, I remember the veggie breakfast sausages and heat two up to take with me.
9:15 a.m.
Work! I eat my veggie sausages and a plum. If you’re keeping track, that’s four different fruits this week. I also check my bank account! Payday! The foundation guy still hasn’t cashed his check though, which is annoying.
1:20 p.m.
I go heat up my lunch, which should finally finish up the spaghetti squash. As I walk around, I see that there are two other lawyers here and two legal assistants. It’s a ghost town. I’m tempted to leave. I also see that Barack Obama’s new book is about to come out, so I pre-order it.
$29.23
1:45 p.m.
Because of the ghost town status, I leave. I have errands to run and a Friday to enjoy. Regardless, I will still work at home.
2:00 p.m.
I saw a few recipes I want to try this weekend, so I pop over to Whole Foods right by the office and get the ingredients I don’t already have at home. It’s mostly specialty vegetables and fresh spices. I even buy salmon, which I almost never cook.
$78.40
3:00 p.m.
I get home and medicate the kittens, which I did not do before leaving this morning. I put away the groceries, and my husband gets home! Yay! He lays down on the sofa, and I pull out my laptop to finish working for the day.
5:00 p.m.
I finish working for the day and start a load of laundry
6:00 p.m.
I do a ride with my other friend. The theme is weird, but I get a great sweat in.
7:00 p.m.
I use the fancy ingredients to make coconut miso salmon curry and some plain rice. It is AMAZING!! Maybe this is the best dinner I’ve made in a while. Martha Stewart who? Meanwhile, my husband puts on the latest episode of the Mandalorian. I didn’t watch the first season with him, but I’ve enjoyed watching this with him. After that’s done, I finish Wow, No Thank You and start Anxious People.
11:00 p.m.
Bed time! Same old routine. We have a long day ahead of us.
Daily total: $107.63
Saturday 11/14
8:12 a.m.
My birth control alarm will never let me sleep in.
9:30 a.m.
But I do get to sleep a little while longer. However, today is my birthday party/friendsgiving and we have so much cleaning to do. I heat up some tea, and my husband makes us toaster waffles, and we sit for a little while.
To be clear, when I say party, I mean, hanging out with the same few people I’ve seen all of quarantine. There will be eight other people there aside from my husband and I, so there will be a total of 10 people in my apartment. (And five cats). I even considered cancelling this after we had to call the family and tell them we weren’t going to Thanksgiving. But I’m already bummed I don’t get to go to the Texas Renaissance Festival this year, so a small get-together is as good as it gets.
10:00 a.m.
The theme here is powerpoint party, and even though I sent out the information two weeks ago, I have not prepared my powerpoint. I spend three hours prepping my powerpoint. It is informative, it is dark, it is ready.
Well, kind of. About two hours in, I notice my laptop has stopped charging. I JUST GOT THIS CHARGER A MONTH AGO. I have known the end was coming for my laptop soon enough, but I kept trying to hold it off. My laptop is already four years old, and it would not be worth it to replace the battery. I don’t like using my work laptop for personal things, but I don’t have another option, and my husband is still working on his presentation as well, so I grab my work laptop and finish it off. Let’s see if I purchase a new laptop this upcoming week. (Recommendations are always welcome. I currently have a Dell XPS 13 Touch, and I’ll probably just get a new one of those unless a better recommendation comes along).
1:30 p.m.
We start the deep clean. I get busy in the kitchen and my husband cleans the bathroom. Vacuuming, mopping, rug cleaning, etc. and soon, our apartment is spotless.
While we’re cleaning, my mom texts me and confirms the foundation guy picked up his check.
4:30 p.m.
I still need a few more things so I shower quickly and head to Kroger to get the last things I forgot at Whole Foods. I am unfortunately out of time to work out, so that won’t happen today.
4:45 p.m.
Paper plates, cups, tin foil, and more tofu. I’m not trying to do all those dishes tomorrow.
$16.26
5:00 p.m.
I also go to Spec’s to get more alcohol. It’s the only place that has mead, and I’m trying to recreate those Ren Fest vibes as best I can.
$102.90
5:30 p.m.
Time to start cooking. Everyone is bringing a little something, so the weight is not on me to do it all. I am making vegetarian shepherd’s pie, tofu roulade, and roasted cauliflower. I’m very anxious. I’ve never been a fan of hosting parties, and COVID has only confirmed that I prefer being a homebody. Insert cooking montage here.
6:00 p.m.
One of my friends arrives early and helps me finish prepping. The roulade is not going well, which is disappointing.
7:00 p.m.
Everyone has arrived, and we start eating.
Presentations are shown, laughs ensue, and good times are had by all. Powerpoint themes:
12:00-1:00 a.m.ish
I don’t remember exactly when the party ended, but it was a reasonable enough hour. I take my makeup off and go to bed.
Daily total: $119.16
Sunday 11/15
8:12 a.m.
Birth control alarm. UGH. I am hungover and feeling it.
9:00 a.m.
I move to the sofa so I can watch tiktoks without waking up my husband. I will not move from this spot very much all day.
We don’t really eat breakfast today, because we are still full from last night. Around lunchtime, we heat up some more food from last night.
I watch Big Mouth all day because season 4 is coming out in a few weeks. It’s just as weird and uncomfortable as I remember it being.
I also cuddle with kittens all day, and they are SO CUTE. I LOVE THEM.
7:00 p.m. ish
I finally get up to be semi-productive. I load the dishwasher and leave the pots and pans for my husband to wash later. We still ended up using all our utensils, serving spoons, and small plates for cake.
I also start dinner. We actually finished most of the food we had made yesterday at lunch. I make ramen and guss it up with shiitake mushrooms, miso (lots of miso this week), kimchi, and rice cakes. Easy, tasty, satisfying.
Around this time, I go back to my laptop. It is not charging. UGH.
After dinner, and more tv, I finally shower, and finally feel like a normal person. I read for a little while before bed.
11:30 p.m.
What a lazy Sunday. It’s exactly what I needed.
Daily total: $0
Monday 11/16
7:15 a.m.
I’m up and mostly rested.
7:30 a.m.
I get out of bed, and finally do a chore I’ve been putting off all week: repotting my money tree to take back to the office.
After that, it’s the same old morning routine: cats, plants, packing lunch, getting dressed. But today, makeup and breakfast both happen. Who is she????
Additionally, I joined a weight loss pool at work that started a month ago. I weigh myself for the weekly check-in. Despite the feast I had this weekend, I still managed to lose a pound. This is pretty consistent with what I’ve done all month. Overall, four pounds lost. I wish it would go faster, but it’s fine. I’m healthy, I’m active, and I eat well.
9:00 a.m.
Work! My money tree fell over in the car and dirt got all over the ground. Great. And the tree is falling out of its new pot. I awkwardly repot it in my car, and then in my office. Hopefully it’s okay. Otherwise, I have a specific research topic to answer, and a report due tomorrow.
I also bring my personal laptop and hope it will charge here. No such luck. I order a replacement charger AGAIN, but this time it’s free of charge. I also start doing research on how much it’ll take to replace my laptop. I do need it for tutoring, so it’s not like I can put it off much longer. There are Black Friday deals going on already. There’s also a Best Buy nearby, so I’ll go look after work.
11:30 a.m.
I eat a plum and go look at my credit card statement. I usually pay it off every two weeks, to align with paychecks, so I pay off my credit card. I note that there’s a Classpass charge on my card. I saw the email a few weeks ago and forgot to cancel. I cancel my membership, but the $60 charge is already on my card. UGH
$60.00
I also get an email confirming our Imperfect Foods order and the charge that comes with it.
$63.93
1:00 p.m.
I heat up some of the ramen from yesterday. It’s fine. Our work microwave isn’t very good. I eat a mandarin as well.
5:30 p.m.
I am almost finished with the document review in this case, but I ordered some tables for my office plants last week, and they came in over the weekend. I assemble those and arrange my plants. Since it’s my birthday tomorrow, I get to go to the plant store.
6:00 p.m.
I drive on over to Best Buy and check out the Dell selection. They only have Inspirons on display. What a waste of time. I also goofed on the way over here and had to do a big loop on the highway to get here, so I’m extra annoyed. Afterwards, I call my husband and he already knows that I’m going to suggest ordering in. He gets me.
6:40 p.m.
I get home and plop on the sofa. He wants something hearty, but I want the opposite. We find a good compromise and I put the order in.
$40.44
7:45 p.m.
Food is here! He got a BBQ brisket sandwich, and I got a brussel sprout salad. Compromise. We watch the latest Last Week Tonight. John Oliver blows up 2020 and it’s exactly what this year deserves. Trash TV and kitten cuddles for the rest of the night. Too tired to read.
11:00 p.m.
Time for bed. Teeth, face, etc.
Daily total: $164.37
WEEKLY TOTALS
Food + Drink: $310.89
Fun / Entertainment: $30.22 (book and pokemon go)
Home + Health: $0.00
Clothes + Beauty: $89.95
Transport: $0.00
Other: $60.00
GRAND TOTAL: $491.06
REFLECTIONS
Aside from the alcohol and extra party purchases, this was a pretty standard week. I have been doing better about not buying clothes when I’m sad, but I also normally buy used clothing and not a new dress for $90. I am very much a creature of habit, which I did not realize until I wrote it all out. I am excited about our financial future, and although we aren’t putting much into savings right now, I know that’s temporary.

October Earnings Report - How I made £774.25 in October 2020

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a great October.
Firstly many thanks to everyone who helped me to achieve some extra Beer Money this month it is super appreciated. I have been chuffed every time I see a post that gives me an opportunity to get some extra £'s, $'s or €'s.
It is great to see so many people sharing their referrals and helping out others in the threads.
Just wanted to share with the community how in October 2020 I made £774.25 through using the Beer Money UK Reddit group. Tonight is the first time I have added it all up and I am really surprised it was so high. I thought it was going to be half around £350! Therefore, I am super happy to share with everyone what I did.
Hopefully it will help some other people to make some extra money this month. Please feel free to comment below or reach out to me on DM if you have any questions. The economy if a bit rubbish right now and I appreciate their are lots of people out there that could with a few extra pounds to make ends meet.
For background I set up this Reddit account about 2 months ago during lock down as a result of having my hours at work decreased by 20 hours a week. I was worried money might get a little tight and as a result I thought it would be idea to try and make some extra money with the additional time I had.
Thinking / hoping it would just be for a temporary period I wanted to choose something I could pick up and put down easily, that had no set hours. I considered flowing options:
I tried a few Micro task sites and earned a small amount, ~£20 ish pounds or so, but I was so mind-numbingly bored from them that I discounted them as an option. Congrats to everyone that is making money this way. I mainly tried Neevo / Defined Crowd. I lost the will to live when I had to listen to recording of two of the same thing and say which one I liked better eg 'Go right at the next junction' only to find I got the answers wrong. How I could get the answers wrong to which one I preferred I do not know?!?
The surveys I did try paid too small amount for the time they took and I also found them boring.
I could not be bothered going out to do shopping, and it was the middle of a pandemic, so I discounted mystery shopping.
That left with me with using BeeryMoneyUK as my test bed for additional income from signing up to new services :)
After trying the above in September time. October was my first full month of utilising the offers from BeerMoneyUK.
Here is my October 2020 Earning Report:
Total earnings: £774.25
Note, I haven't included fees in this report as it would take a while to work out and would only be a small percentage of the amount ~2%.
Also with regards the Bitcoin / cryptocurrency bonuses I keep these in denominated in Bitcoin. There is no chance I am selling these for fiat!!! I also have not accounted for the rise in Bitcoin price that will have pushed my earning up higher :)
Tips for people looking to maximize income from BeerMoneyUK:
Here are my observations and tips for people like me looking to make a little bit of money on the side with their free time:
  1. Make sure you have ID (passport, driving license, bank statements etc), all the best offers require some sort of verification / KYC. Keep copies of these on your hard drive in a specific folder so you can drag and drop them when needed.
  2. Make sure you have a Euro / Multi-Currency accounts. Shameless plug for Bitwala and TransferWise both of these accounts have enabled me to fully take advantage of Euro and USD offers. I use both the web based and app versions regularly for these accounts. Its nice to get a phone notification letting you know a payment or transfer has arrived. So I can immediately send it back to my main account.
  3. Read the BeerMoneyUK rules. They help keep the place running smoothly.
  4. I use a separate Browser for everything BeerMoneyUK related. The browser I use is Brave This is logged into this Reddit account and has LastPass Chrome Extension installed to save all my passwords. Chrome extensions all work well in Brave. I create unique random 20+ character passwords for all my accounts. Using Last Pass means you do not need to remember them. Having a dedicated browser for all the deals makes things work well. It also auto populates many of the signup forms to save time.
  5. Best types of offers in order of size free bonuses; Bank Switches, Money Transfer Services, Cryptocurrency, P2P Investing. Don't be scared to get stuck into new markets and try services you wouldn't normally try. Give it ago and make some free money along the way! Also for bank switches I do not use my main account. I just create an additional current account that can be switched. Pretty much all banks let you do this and it takes 5 mins to set up. If the switched have requirements no problems... Eg must have 3 payments/direct debits set up. Ok :) link account to Paypal (2 mins), set up regular monthly payment to main account £1 a month, set up regular monthly payment of £1 a month into TransferWise account.
  6. Learn to love Bitcoin :) £10 in Bitcoin today is worth £100 in Bitcoin sometime very soon, and £1,000 in the not too distant future. I think anyone that does spends the time to find out more about Bitcoin will end up either loving it or at the very least respecting it as an investment asset that should be in everyone's portfolio. When viewing offers for free Bitcoin I view it in this mindset. If an exchange wants to give me £10 of free Bitcoin I see it as them giving me £100-£1000 for free! Don't cash Bitcoin out! Hodl!
  7. When you post an offer to help people via DM as well as in the thread. At least 3 people have DM'd me asking for help with offers and I have helped them with one, and then helped them further by suggesting similar offers.
  8. Use a laptop / Desktop to do the offers. I think it would be a struggle for me to do all the offers if I could not use these. Also you do need to have your phone handy for some. Have an authenticator app installed for 2FA (two factor authentication). Save all 2FA's in this app.
  9. Be organised! I have a Google Doc that I list all my offers on. Here is a BeerMoneyUK Template version made for people to use. Feel free to copy and then edit it: https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=197E853733392C3A!3518&ithint=file%2cdocx&authkey=!AKAVtjAHW_OqsRg
  10. Check BeerMoneyUK regularly. I sort posts by 'new' and check all the posts that have been made since the last time I checked. This ensure I do not miss anything. If I see something to sign up for I copy the URL and add it to my Google Doc. I pretty much sign up for things only when I have the time (weekend or evenings).
  11. Money... Unfortunately the old adage is true. It takes money to make money. I am not sure how much I have spent this month on money transfers etc, and although you do get all your money back, for lots of offers you do need to have at least some money to start with. I probably used a good £500 to put towards my money transfers etc. To reduce the impact of this make sure you have a system in place to quickly recycle your cash and avoid doing any offers that require you to lock up your capital for too long unless you have the cash. For example the P2P offers below can be cashed out in a month. But some of the investments on the October.EU platform are 48 months!! No chance I would invest in them. I want a quick in and out. 3 months max, maybe 6 months at a push for a good deal. Nearly all of the deals below are instant meaning you can cash out immediately.
  12. Every little bit adds up. Sometimes I think should I do this one is only worth £5. Do it! Everything adds up, especially when you consider the last point
  13. Share your referral link. After you have received your referral bonus make sure you share your link on the thread you signed up with and also create your own post on the BeerMoneyUK Reddit.
I am super happy to help so please feel free to send me a DM if you have any questions. I would be only too pleased to help someone make an extra bit of Beer Money in time for Christmas. Especially now I will have likely more time with the new lock down!!

How much time did it take?
I did not time myself doing these offers so hard to be exact. I would guess it has taken me between 30-50 hours in total for the month.
When signing up for offers I get side tracked. I do not see it as work because I am at home and the time is flexible. I might start one thing only to get distracted by life. I also do not try and do everything as fast as possible. I like learning new things and figuring out how something works. So I often find myself reading around a topic, or watching a few YouTube videos, to get a better understanding of something.
My plan is to time myself for November so hopefully I will have an accurate idea at the end of the month. I think it will take less hours this month as I have already completed a lot of sign-ups and written most of the referral posts that will just need to be re-posted.

Here is a breakdown of my October 2020 Earnings:
These are all the offers I did in October. Most of the income I have made in October is from actually signing up to the offers in question.
It would be super good if for November I can make some money from some of you excellent people signing up for the deals you think are good for you. Please make use of the referral links below and I will be eternally grateful, please remember to share your referral links to on the relevant posts!!
The deals below are in no particular order. I just pasted them from my own document. Here is a template version for you to copy/save so you can edit:

First year (almost) of home ownership costs (CAN - Ontario)

Good Day PF, just thought I would share my journey in home ownership with everyone who may be interested, I feel we have been pretty successful navigating our first year, and had no issues with our jobs or anything through out COVID. Ww bought in November just before COVID hit, we went with a slight fixer-upper Semi-detatched - 416k - (30 year mortgage at 2.8% and we had 20% down)
Age of both of us - 30/34
Start off with Household expenses/required monthly costs:
Required:
  • Mortgage - $1371.05
  • Property Tax - $440 (1.2% - highest in Ontario pretty much)
  • Insurance - $170(car) + $63 (house)
  • Transit - $50 - Gas - $500 - Train to work - Myself - work from home Wife - Train into city (close drive)
  • Gas (heating/water heating) - $96 (Averaged over last 10 months)
  • Power - $73 (avearge over 7 months)
  • Water - $55 (Average over 6 months)
  • Internet - $76.67
  • Phone - $87 (Me) + $87 (Wife) (used to be 50 each ut we recently upgraded phones and decided to tack on the 0% financing of the phones ovr 2 years instead of paying upfront)
  • Food - $600 (We eat good and healthy - shop at No frills (Cheaper canadian supermarket) but it can honestly fluctuate from $400 to $600 depending what we want, i just over budget)
  • Netflix - $14
  • Steam Game - $6
Total - $3688.05
Discretionary * Booze/Alcohol - $100 (might be a bit less since COVID, as we decided to lose weight during, which meant cutting back on beer significantly)
Expenses - Grand Total - $3788.05
I also like to keep track of how close we are to surviving on bare minimum with a single income
  • Deficit with only wife's income = (-$238.05)
  • Deficit with only my income = (-$770.05) (not including my bonus + 2 extra pay) ($-270.05 - bonus/extra pay)
Note:I do not include many of our discretionary expenses as I believe this budget is what we would cut down to if push came to shove ever. These are just the mostly cant live without, ideally, if disaster struck and we both lost our jobs, and what we budget the E-fund for.
Savings (active savings after a pay cheque in deposited - you will understand further below)
  • 400 monthly in TFSA - Doing this as we took longer term on mortgage (30 year) with slightly more interest but reduced payments - saving the difference and then some (difference was only 100$ a month is more is better (25 year would have been 2.6% vs the 30 year we took at 2.8%)
  • Current Efund - $11000 (Usually at $15000 or roughly 4 months worth as that iis what I feel comfortable with, but we had some more recent expenses (expected mostly) below and working on replenishing it
Current Take home per month = $3018 (Myself) + $3550 (Wife)
Left over after above spending/savings - $2379.96 ($28559.40 yearly)
Savings Not included in take home above
  • Myself - Pension 1% of pay (before what is taken above) - guaranteed Income Pension based on years of service
  • Myself - 3.5kish a year - Share Purchace plan - Doing up to what they will match (took out an RSP loan (first time home buyer) to get my down payment to 20$ (21k or so) - and using this to repay it by selling quarterly and dumping in money when I can - already paid back $4500 - government allows up to 10 years, but should have it done in 4/5
  • Wife - $500ish a month towards Pension - Same as Mine's above, guaranteed income based on years of service
Things of note in budget
  • Myself Paid Bi-Weekly (2 extra pay a year) - 3k per year for as the biweekly payments
  • Myself ~3k for bonus
  • Wife paid monthly (so no extra pay to be expected in budget)
Big Expenses so far in 2020 (some expected and some not expected when we bought the house)
Expected/completed so far
  • New Sump Pump/Pit/other things related - $3500
  • New Roof - $3800
  • New Soffet/gutter (1 side of the house) - $1100
  • Installing baffles and insulation into roof - (Taking it from R-5ish to R-60 - Canada cold) - Expected cost to be ~1000 - doing it all myself (700ish square feet attic)
  • Removed all old Mouldy drywall and studs from basement - ~ $300
  • New (to us) Car - $500 (Gift from family thankfully)
  • Reseeding Parts of back lawn - $200 (large portions needed done and seed+soil is kinda pricey - this is proably underestimated)
  • New Shed+Platform - $200 (got the shed for free and built platform out of 2x4)
Unexpected/luxury * Sewer line root blockage - $2500 * New King bed + King sized bed frame - $1600 * New Queen bed frame (for old mattress to be placed in a bedroom) - $300 (ikea)
Total - $14600
Big Expenses for 2021
Expected/planned
  • New Windows/Doors - 7 - 10k installed (hiring professionals
  • New Siding on house (just half the house) - 3 or 4k - (hiring professionals)
  • New Deck/Patio - Price to be determined (going to complete ourselves)
Big Future Expenses (no date determined)
  • New Kitchen - full reno and gut/cutting out walls - No Price (expecting 30k+ potentially)
Anyways, if you got through all that feel free to share comments where you think we can improve, living in the GTA is one of the more expensive areas in Canada, and just thought this might help people considering home ownership at least in the area (property tax was the biggest shock to us, although we were still fairly prepared for how high it was)
We are thankful enough to have already paid off our student loans (16k and 12k respectively) and have no other credit we need to pay monthly except for the mortgage.
we are also Kid free, which cuts down on may of the child care expenses I see in here.

WINk AMA - Nov 28, 2019

  1. When will multi currency be 100% and when can we expect multi divs and what will that look like?
Multi Currency has been out for a few weeks now - So far we have optimized deposit and withdrawal time, security, etc. The next step for us is to add other tokens - for example we are working on BNB and XRP integration as we speak (BNB was finished yesterday - will be testing today). Once security, transaction times, and all partners support all tokens, then we will take it to the next step.
At this time, we are not able to show what the final step is, as it is confidential. But rest assured, after multi-currency is complete, mass marketing plan will be in action.
I think those who ask about marketing need to understand that multicurrency is a fundamental need before this happens
i dear to say that most if not everyone who holds tron, knows about wink - if we mass market right now we can only market to these users. hence, marketing spend going down the drain.
Mass marketing will be a two-prong attack
  1. multi-currency so that we can onboard other crypto users
  2. for the average joe - this is when we implement our plans to decrease the barrier for new users so that they don't need to understand the blockchain or how a decentralized wallet works and can still enjoy everything that WINk has to offer
  3. When will Live and Dice be on exchange?
I don't have an exact time for this right now. Originally it was when 50% is mined, we then decided to launch after multi currency is 100%, but it may be sooner, it may be later. Either way - we will for sure let all of you know before it does launch
  1. When Hash Lotto?
I just checked up on that two days ago, it's actually more or less ready - still more testing to do, as the digits used for the lottery is dependent on the hash key - we need to ensure that it is as smooth as possible - we hope to give you guys a seamless experience like DICE
I think before the end of the year, for games i'd say you can expect to see at least 1 more game for DICE, and more slots + a new game that I believe will be bigger than monopoly
Matchnet and other "partners" will most likely be Q1 2020
  1. When are we going to resolve the 8 million per day trx withdrawal limit on live platform, and when are we going to bring back the removed Slots from Platipus?
Regarding platipus, their CEO and I had a call two days ago, as we will most likely work directly with them, and ensure that platipus slots/games support all cryptocurrencies offered on the WINk platform. Furthermore, we have also discussed a WINk themed slot game with a totally new bonus system.
actually we are working on it when it was still TRONbet, but now we have to pros to do it : )
  1. When will we see a new UI for WINK?
We have a new UI ready to go, but the original thought is to release it with the fully developed multi-currency system -
Actually, recently a few designers from the community have contacted me and would like to submit their designs - maybe we can make this a competition? what do you guys think?
  1. When is poker going to get an update?
We have been working on poker among other things. The good news here is that we have a development team dedicated to poker now. I will make an introduction to our product lead for poker next time, he will be able to give you in-depth response for timelines, functions, roadmap, etc.
  1. Are their plans to upgrade wink with integrated support ticket system?
yup! This maintenance is to lay the groundwork for a few things that we have coming up. One of these is an integrated support ticket system- Angel our customer service manager has a wealth of experience in this, and will be ensuring that we provide the best service possible.
  1. When do you think games that are not casino / gambling games will be released? More like pay to advance quicker... All spent on those would be profit instead of profit is after winners win....
As I've always said, my own vision for WINk is to become a publishing platform for great dapps. There are a few games that we will be integrating in the coming months. So don't you worry! In the meantime if anyone wants to play League of Legends or NBA 2K20 just DM me : )
  1. Add to that question CCGs and RPGs 😀🐲... Can't wait to see that one!
The problem with CCGs and RPGs at this moment in the blockchain industry is "how to educate users on the importance of NFTs, and having the ability to own your assets." You and I may understand because we are in the industry, but 90% of gamers don't know what it is or don't care what it is.
I believe that 1. Make it easy for users to get into the game 2. make the blockchain/crypto stuff a learning process throughout the game
The problem with most games right now is that you need to understand wallets, crypto, blockchain to even get started. I think this is the worst decision.
Given this, Any game we design will have points 1 and 2 resolved. Also, I do believe in the long term that CCGs, MMORPGs, and sandbox games will adopt blockchain technology.
  1. Would there ever be a possibility for rewarding the faithful ANTE/WIN holders through a retention style reward system? This would help show appreciation for the original holders that have stayed faithful and believed in the project since the beginning by keeping their ANTE/WIN frozen. For example those that have kept their WIN/ANTE frozen the longest would get the biggest bonus and then reduce the bonus as the time frozen shortens.
That's definitely a great idea, and I always thank early ANTE adopters as we would not be here if it wasn't for all of you. I'm sure you guys have "gained" the most too : ). We have a similar system right now - depending on how much WIN you have frozen you get bonus mining. Love your idea, will talk with the team during our next meeting and see what other ideas we can come up with
  1. Wink end-of-the- year awards!
  2. Best Customer service Rep
  3. Most active community member
  4. MEME master
etc. : )
  1. You always say win is down but the whole market is down so it is ok! But to be honest win is always more down than the market in terms of % so what can you say to comfort your old time owner? I m a long term holder in for a long run but stress about my portfolio value down 70% which is huge
Well first of all I never said that win is down but the whole market is down so it is ok. I never said it is OK. But I do not think that this is a valid question when the whole market is down. If the market is booming and WIN is down, then I think this is a fair question to ask.
And as i have said before, the last several months has been focused on the transition to ensure that we have a better future.
Mass marketing hasn't started and as I mentioned above this is a two-pronged attack.
But most importantly, can you name me another token that gives you considerable drops on a daily basis? Yes the WIN token value is down, but I'm sure most if not all of you have made it up with drops.
Can you name me a token that gives you passive income no matter if the market is up or down? and is also traded on major exchanges?
  1. why on the site does it say WIN burn is every two weeks and it has never been that way.. it has been once a month
Buyback and burn is once a month - WIN burn from burnpool is every two weeks
  1. buyback and burn - as I've noted before, we need to settle all invoices with partners to know the exact amount to burn - we are trying to streamline this as best as we can. We have changed some invoice dates as well. But if a partner doesn't give us an invoice on time, we have no way of calculating how much needs to be burned.
  2. Burn pool - its negative... there is nothing to burn : )
Given the above, I believe we did our buyback and burn this morning
  1. Why don't WIN holders get any airdrop? Can the burn amount instead be distributed to WIN holders?
The burn is designed to reduce supply… You are getting TRX drops daily ...
  1. What is the current progress of WINK dapp store? How many new DAPPs have signed the agreement ? Will there be a new WINK DAPP platform to house these new DAPPs that are not gambling related since gambling regulations are different for each country?
This is always in progress.
Yes there have been few but not many - i think most of us have to understand that the dapp industry is in its infancy. We aren't just going to publish any dapp just because you are a dapp - we need to publish quality dapps, dapps that we believe in as well as giving more excitement to current hodlers and/or bring in new users.
As an example, matchnet is something I believe in. And Steve (owner of matchnet) has a dedicated team, a great roadmap, and most importantly the ability to make things reality.
regarding gambling regulations - the legal team is still working on the last two licenses which will allow us to cover the majority of regulated markets - which also allows us to market casinos in the regulated regions
The reason we went with the Curacao license first is because they are currently the only license that supports/regulates cryptocurrencies
Honestly speaking, right now the dapp industry is 90% garbage dapps. No offense to the developers. What we want is quality dapps, dapps that we believe have the potential to onboard non-dapp users as well. which is extremely important because we either wait for the whole blockchain industry go mainstream, or we can be part of the process for making it go mainstream
and if you ask me, I would rather us be part of the process, and not just ducks sitting and waiting
  1. With this new support team, what’s the expected timeframe issues will be resolved? I hope they won’t be redirected to fill out google forms and wait for devs to credit whatever they’re missing. Is live chat in the works? We need support to be 110% before any marketing happens
Yes, support must and will be 110% before mass marketing happens and this is also why Angel is here to do just that.
We also need to understand that the teaching process of how to deal with certain support tickets is much more complicated because you will need knowledge of the blockchain and understand what such information means. We hope to have time frames of within 6 hours for the first implementation, and then make live chat available when mass marketing begins.
We are integrating a professional customer service and engagement product to make the tickets-solving ability easy to use.
And we are also working on the Live Support now which will be available very soon.
And this is exactly why Angel is part of the team, because she has a wealth of experience in providing exceptional service, and know exactly what needs to be done. As a bonus she has been in the blockchain industry as well, so she knows exactly what most crypto users need for customer service.
I have full faith in her abilities, and I suggest all of you give her just as much faith. She will do an amazing job!
No pressure Angel : )
  1. According to the WIN release schedule, there should have been some WIN unlocked for partners since October and November. However the circulating supply on tronscan https://tronscan.org/#/token20/TLa2f6VPqDgRE67v1736s7bJ8Ray5wYjU7/supply only accounted for the burns and airdrops thus far. What happened to those partners’ WIN that were supposed to be unlocked? Is there a change in the WIN release schedule? Will we see any unlocked partners’ WIN at all before the end of 2019?
The man does his research! In the meantime, you will not see them unlocked, as we are behind schedule with some partner releases. Most if not all agreements are based on after the dapp is launched and not before.
  1. Can we please empower SOMEONE to fix games when they break? Moon goes down for 10+ hours multiple times a week.
Well we first need to understand why the games break at times, and this is due to the nodes. We will be implementing an "auto-reset" function to the code so that it resets automatically after x minutes of downtime. and to empower someone to do that.. well i do feel the power : )
Again, thank you to all of you for the support and sticking with WINk during this tough transition period. Now everything if full-steam ahead!
Our new community service reps and Angel are the first members that I will be introducing to all of you - In the next several weeks I will be introducing marketing team, operation team, BD team etc.
Since the transition if more or less fully complete now, I may not be on telegram as much as I'd like too. But don't fret, I will pop in here and there just to make sure everyone is doing well and having fun!
Again, Thank you for a great AMA. Many great things to look forward to!

I am 29 years old, make $57,000, live in the Bay Area and work in Private Aviation

A note before we begin: My actual job duties/title are super niche and the industry is surprisingly small. As such, I am pretty vague with job/location details -- but if you have specific questions I am happy to discuss over PM. :D Additionally, this is my second MD so I've pared down the info in the beginning quite a bit. For more details you can see my first MD here!
Assets and Debt
Retirement Balance (and how you got there): ~$26,000 - I contribute 6% with a full company match.
Savings account balance: $1,000 in my regular savings account, which is the max I keep in there for immediate emergency/fun funds.
~$6,000 in a high yield savings account that I just opened this summer, exciting!
Checking account balance: ~$500
Credit card debt (and how you accumulated it): $0 -- I pay for almost everything on my credit card to earn points/miles and pay it off in full.
Student loan debt (for what degree): $0 -- BA in Psychology that was mostly paid for by the GI Bill, the rest was paid for by a combo of scholarships/jobs/money my mother had saved.
Income
Main Job Monthly Take Home: $3,350.60 per month after taxes, 401(k) and deductions below:
Health Insurance: $207

Monthly Expenses
Rent: $1,475 for a two bedroom/one bathroom apartment. I live alone.
Savings contribution: Right now I transfer 75% of what's left over in my checking account at the end of the month to my HYSA. We receive two or three bonuses a year and I save 75% of them as well. I also stage manage occasionally (like… once or twice a year at most, roughly $300 bucks a pop) and those checks go straight into savings too. I plan to restart the 52 week savings plan in 2020.
Debt payments: I desperately needed a new laptop last March and ended up going on a payment plan instead of just putting it on my credit card, which was dumb of me. Live and learn. I've been playing twice the minimum payment and only have $130 left, which I will pay off in one lump sum mid-November just to get it out of the way!
Electricity/Gas: Usually around $60 in the fall.

ESPN Plus: $4.99
Maximum Fun: $5
Spotify: $9.99
Netflix: $12.99 (I'm the one all my family/friends mooch off of! My recommendations are a wild place.)

DAY ONE (MONDAY)
7:45 AM - Gooood morning! I get to sleep in a bit and it's heaven. My mom stayed with me this weekend so we could celebrate her birthday, and as our last mother-daughter bonding activity this morning… we're getting our flu shots, haha! I get ready for work (the whole shebang -- shower, skincare, makeup, dry and style hair, pick an outfit and go!) while she makes coffee and feeds the cats like the angel without wings that she is. Once I have all my stuff together, we head over to Kaiser for the free flu shot clinic. It takes ages but we get it done!
9:00 AM - Mom drops me off at our office and hugs me goodbye. We won't see each other again until Christmas, which is a long time for us. My grandma moved in with her in the spring and she needs someone with her round-the-clock, so our visits have decreased significantly. But I'm so happy we got a whole weekend together, we had so much fun! Anyway, head up into work, get situated and start catching up on the madness I've already missed.
10:00 AM - Break out my breakfast which is just a simple chia pudding plus coffee with a sweet new oat milk creamer I randomly found at Target. There's so much going on with an aircraft over in the UK right now. My boss and I accept that a 4:00 AM call is somewhere in our near future.
3:00 PM - I was making really good progress on a project and completely lost track of time. It happens! I scrounge together a lunch from our office kitchen -- two turkey and cheese roll-ups, some cottage cheese and three celery stalks to dip in peanut butter. I also do a wee bit of online shopping because the very exciting thing that I need is… drumroll please… floss. I got the absolute worst floss from Safeway recently, it's so thick it gets stuck between my teeth and hurts my poor gums. Then I found out there's biodegradable floss with glass containers! I order one and bookmark where the refills can be ordered ($10.81). It's also time to refill my sleeping pills ($11.67) which aren't fully covered under my insurance anymore? I'll check on that later. $22.48
5:30 PM - Hoooome. So sleepy. I let myself laze on the couch with the cats for a bit… which turns into an impromptu nap. Oops.
6:30 PM - Haul myself up to feed the cats and myself. I make quinoa, sauteed broccoli, and chickpea tikka masala. I found the recipe last month and have probably made it five or six times since then. At one point while cooking I get a smidge of tomato paste on my finger and lick it off? And it's?? SO GROSS??? Who knew! Dinner is delicious though, I am pleased.
8:00 PM - Clean everything up, pack some leftovers for lunch tomorrow and make another chia pudding to bring to work. After a few more house chores it's time to be lazy! I grab my laptop, curl up in my favorite chair and catch up on the weekend's activity in my main fandom right now. I attempt to write a little for it as well, but it goes nowhere slowly. (Yes, I'm that kind of nerd.) Evening sweet treat is a big spoonful of peanut butter and some chocolate chips. :9
10:00 PM - Nighttime routine commence! I stopped wearing foundation last month and my skin has been so much happier for it. I do my weekly AHA/BHA peel (from The Ordinary of course) while closing up the house. Then it's the rest of the skincare routine, brush and floss with the demonic floss from hell, pop out contacts, pop in retainers, take Trazodone and crawl into bed. The sleepies come for me quickly.
DAILY TOTAL: $22.48

DAY TWO (TUESDAY)
7:30 AM - Holy shit, I slept like the dead. I missed every alarm until this one, which is my "OH MY GOD GET UP RIGHT NOW" alarm. I get ready as fast as possible and scuttle out the door. On the walk to work I get the notification that my quarterly order from Chewy has gone through. Thanks, special urinary health cat food! $55.47
9:00 AM - At work, find out the UK aircraft did its thing without informing any of us. While it's nice that we didn't have to do a 4:00 AM call, that's… really not great. Eat my chia pudding while working through their items.
11:20 AM - Get an email from a property management company letting me know I didn't get a house I was looking at. I'm profoundly bummed. I didn't go over it in my last MD, but our building has serious issues with our neighbors on either side. Harassment, threatening, them coming over and pounding on our doors in the middle of the night to scream at us… it's a huge bummer, because I love my apartment and the other ladies in our building, and it's privately owned so the landlord keeps the rent RIDICULOUSLY cheap, but I can't handle our neighbors. (Yes, we've tried to involve both our landlord and law enforcement. Neither have done any good -- in fact, they both made things infinitely worse.) I'm way too sensitive to live between people who cause me so much anxiety and stress, so at the beginning of this month after a particularly bad blow-up from one of them I started hunting for a new place. I found the perfect house in the perfect location and was one of the top two applicants, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. :( Back to the drawing board.
12:30 PM - Lunch, which is leftovers from last night's dinner. So tasty. I eat out on the balcony and spend most of my time perusing more listings. It seems like the only things up for rent in my area right now are tiny-ass studios going for $1700+ which is just insane. At least it's nice out -- we're having (hopefully!) one last gasp of summer and it's pleasantly warm and a little breezy.
2:30 PM - I feel really down after not getting the house. It's hard to stay motivated to work. I make a cup of coffee in my favorite mug and read some Great British Bake-Off recaps (this season is WACK) for comfort before diving back in.
4:30 PM - Toward the end of the day as I'm trying to untangle an aircraft sale, I find out that the person I need to reach out to is an old colleague! She resigned from our company early this year. We worked closely, got along super well, and I've missed her so much since. I send her the professional emails I need to send, then immediately shoot her a text of how I really feel: AHHHHHH HEY GIRL HEY!!!! She calls and we end up chatting about the aircraft, her new company, and life in general for nearly an hour. I'm excited to get to work with her for a little bit again!
6:00 PM - I am… still at work, for reasons unknown. I've just been listening to musicals and poking around on the internet, which I could be doing from the comfort of my home. I think I'm just really disheartened and feeling unmotivated because of it. I finally pack up my stuff and head home.
6:30 PM - It's such a gorgeous night out -- beautiful sunset, warm weather, a light breeze. I take my time meandering through downtown. It's silly, but it was always my dream to move back to this town after I left as a kid, and specifically to live downtown. Nearly seven years into my life here and it still sometimes hits me that I really made that happen, I really live here. I love it so much. I give myself permission to be a little sad and sulky tonight -- which involves swinging by my favorite taqueria to get a chile verde taco salad to take home. With tip, $15.72
7:30 PM - Taco salad has been eaten, cats have been fed, minor daily chores have been done, it's time to curl up and watch the new episode of Dragula. Which is just a recap episode, but I love Landon Cider so much that it doesn't even matter.
9:00 PM - Put myself in the bath for a little wind-down. I alternate between messaging back and forth with my friends and trying to get into Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh. She's not great to read when you're not in a good headspace, haha! Eventually I get out, go through my night routine and crawl into bed. Probably don't fall asleep until around 11:00 and then have a sleep paralysis episode in the middle of the night, bleh.
DAILY TOTAL: $71.19

DAY THREE (WEDNESDAY)
6:00 AM - Up! Reluctant, but up. I've been trying to get better about waking up early enough to make breakfast at home instead of eating at my desk, since I'm also trying to implement more mindful eating (aka less screen time). It's a process because I'm NOT a morning person whatsoever. I groggily sit up in bed for at least the first 20 minutes before stumbling out to make half a cup of oatmeal, two scrambled eggs, and a cut up apple with cinnamon.
8:30 AM - At work, plugging away. This week is a huge business aviation conference, so most of the outside folks I work with are out of office. It makes for a pretty slow week (even though things still need to get done!)
1:00 PM - I didn't bring lunch today because generally on Wednesdays, our finance director makes salads. And score, she did today! I have a bowl of a nice kale chopped salad with chicken, cashews, pepitas and roasted garlic dressing. Also snag one of these craaazy delicious whole milk yogurts we occasionally get from our office fridge.
5:00 PM - I stay late at work for three reasons: to keep chipping away at a big project, to let the sun go down and avoid walking home in the blistering heat, and to watch soccer on the side. I'm totally obsessed with the sport, have been since I was a little kid, and my MLS team is New York City FC. We're in the MLS Cup semifinals against Toronto… annnnnnd just like every other year when it comes to the Cup, we choke and get knocked out. Sucks, but it was expected.
6:30 PM - Finally get my stuff together and go home. Neighbors are outside and start yelling at me the second they see me. Fun fun fun. Unfortunately it's 88F inside my apartment so I need to keep the windows open to get a breeze in and can hear them railing on and on. It's gotten a lot worse over the past couple months and I'm so sick of it.
7:00 PM - Call my mom to vent a bit and we end up looking at curtains together online. I tell her if I don't have a new place by the new year, we can put up curtains here. As a secret home decorating fanatic, this delights her. I'm personally terrible at decorating so it works out!
7:45 PM - Heat up chickpea tikka masala and quinoa for dinner, plus a bag of TJ's green veggie foursome. Normally I'd cook another dish during the week so I can swap between the two for lunches and dinners, but I'm not going to be home for as many meals in the coming days so I kept it simple with just one big batch of this. Pack up more for lunch tomorrow, plus some snacks.
8:30 PM - Stop puttering around the house to plan my public transit for the weekend and look up restaurants. Transit is going to be super easy, yay!! Since I'm not in the ~proper~ Bay Area, I'm not suuuuper familiar with BART and MUNI routes. It's always such a pleasant surprise how efficient they are. (I'm sure if I lived in the city I would not feel the same, haha!)
10:00 PM - I've been reading on the chaise with all the windows open because it's still warm out. It's been pretty gusty, but all of the sudden the wind picks up faster and louder than I've ever experienced here. All my doors slam shut, everything on my refrigerator flies off, my paper towel roll unravels -- it's chaos for about a minute. After I shut the windows and soothe the cats, I do what any millennial would do -- look on Twitter. I quickly find out that there's a 1,000 acre fire in Geyserville that's spreading rapidly due to the winds. I still have massive trauma leftover from the Tubbs fire in 2017, so I'm immediately keyed up to 11. I can't stop refreshing the fire news and soon my phone is blowing up with evacuation alerts. It feels exactly like the night Tubbs started and I'm a wreck.
12:00 AM - I finally tear myself away from my phone (with the fires now at 5,000 acres) and get ready for bed, trying everything I know to soothe my anxiety. I don't think I fell asleep until nearly 2:00 AM.
DAILY TOTAL: $0

DAY FOUR (THURSDAY)
6:15 AM - Oops, didn't disable my early alarms. No way.
7:35 AM - Finally crack my eyes open. I'm so tired and stressed that they actually ache. Check the news -- 10,000 acres, full evacuation of the town, zero containment. My town isn't close enough to be in danger (we don't even have smoke in the air yet, which is a relief) but it still triggers my anxiety something massive. Slowly get ready for work while listening to old episodes of Til Debt Do Us Part (THANK YOU MD REDDIT!! I'm so obsessed with Gail now. Also, holy hell that mid-2000s fashion.)
8:45 AM - At work, catching up with my boss who's back from the conference. I make oats with plain almond milk, a little maple syrup and a whole lot of cinnamon from our office kitchen. Also drink the coffee I brought from home, because pre-fire I had grand ambitions of waking up early and actually set my coffee maker for once.
10:30 AM - My high school best friend D. and I were going to see The Laramie Project tonight. We met while doing the show together 14 years ago! Time flies. The town that's putting it on is a lot closer to the fires than me, so I email their box office to see if the show is canceled. Sure enough, it is. They do say they'll honor our tickets at any of the other showings, but I don't think the dates work. I shoot it over to my friend to see if he's down for any of them.
11:10 AM - Success! D. can do the Sunday matinee! I email the box office to let them know and start thinking up where we can go to brunch beforehand.
1:00 PM - Lead an hour long training course for a program I'm trying to get more of our folks to adopt that will make their jobs (and by extension, mine) so much easier. It goes fairly well. Afterwards I make an office kitchen lunch of turkey and havarti roll-ups, baby carrots with tzatziki sauce and sliced strawberries.
5:00 PM - Leave work and head to my tattoo consultation! I'm finally getting my second tattoo and I'm so excited about it. I commissioned a design from a really cool artist I found on Etsy, and I've asked the guy who did my first tattoo to do some simple lettering to go along with it. It doesn't take long, we just mess around with his mock up a bit, talk about placement and set a date for the actual appointment. Yay!!! The deposit is cash only, and the ATM I withdrew from earlier today had a fee, boo. $43.25
6:00 PM - D. and I were going to meet for dinner before heading up to the show, but obviously that's not happening now. I reason with myself that it's better for my wallet even though I'm really bummed to not see him tonight. Head home, set the oven to preheat, put a block of tofu in my tofu press (honestly the best kitchen investment I've made this year) and cuddle the kitties for a bit.
7:00 PM - Dinner is served! I tried a new tofu stir fry recipe and it turned out pretty well. Super simple, just baked tofu tossed in a skillet with sesame oil, whatever frozen veggies and an easy soy-based sauce. Halfway through I realize I don't have a carb to go with it though... so I chop a murasaki sweet potato up and make quick fries because what is dinner without a carb??
8:30 PM - Clean up and then bust out my N95 mask from two years ago. The wind is changing direction tonight and the entire Bay Area is expected to be smoky tomorrow. Lovely!
10:00 PM - I lay out everything I'm going to need to pack lightning-fast tomorrow after work, go through my nighttime routine and crawl into bed. No news this time -- I know things are bad (15,000 acres, 5% containment and 80mph winds expected Saturday -- and that's just Kincade, there's at least two other fires springing up nearby too) but I don't need to read the constant updates from the scanners for my own sanity. I listen to podcasts and play dumb app games until I'm too sleepy.
DAILY TOTAL: $43.25

DAY FIVE (FRIDAY)
6:45 AM - Wake up, immediately check the news. The fire is at 22,000 acres and the wind has officially brought smoke down to us. I make oats with mashed banana and egg whites folded in (sounds a little weird but it's really good!) before getting ready, then walk to work with my mask on. Work is pretty fraught, just as it was during the last fire. Not much gets done as we're all staring at fire, wind and evacuation maps.
12:00 PM - Traditional Friday taco day with my boss and two closest colleagues in our department, much more subdued than usual. I get two pollo asado street tacos on lettuce wraps instead of tortillas. With tip, $12.42
4:30 PM - Book it out of the office. Once I'm home I love up the kitties and let them know I'll be home tomorrow. I hate leaving them, but it's also been a long time since I had younger cats. I'm so used to my ooooooooold former cat who couldn't be left alone. As long as they've got extra food, they're totally good for a night. Still… my babies. :( With final kisses, I pack up all my stuff and book it back out! Hey, at least I'm getting my steps in today.
5:55 PM - I'm wearing my mask and some rude as hell older men at the body shop near my home openly mock me for it. I have zero patience and remove the mask to tell them in much more graphic and unkind words to get lost. Y'all probably have COPD, you're the ones who should be wearing masks. Anyway! Reload my Clipper card, which will cover all my travel this weekend and then some. I start the journey out to my friends in the East Bay! $25.00
7:15 PM - They grab me from the BART station, incredible smelling Ethiopian food in tow. We pick up Venom and hunker down to watch it with delicious food and pleeeeenty of drinks. By the time the movie's over and we've wandered into Random YouTube Video Land, we're pretty loud and rowdy. I'm about four drinks in and I know I'll feel it in the morning, but it just feels so good to let go, forget about what's going on at home and have fun with these people I've loved for so long.
1:00 AM - They've made up the guest room for me like the angels they are. We head to bed and I'm out like a light.
DAILY TOTAL: $37.42

DAY SIX (SATURDAY)
8:00 AM - Why did I even set this alarm?
9:30 AM - Better. Once I've showered, we head out to get breakfast sandwiches and coffee. I Venmo them for my portion of last night's dinner and today's breakfast. While we eat, we recap our last D&D session since my memory is so terrible. I also do my makeup at some point so we don't have to end our session early before I need to leave. $30.00
11:00 AM - Check the fire news. The city that D. and I were going to go to tomorrow for the show has been fully evacuated. I let him know, and he says he'll come up to have brunch and hang out anyway. I feel bad, but I tell him we'll take a rain check -- I know what's coming, and I know traffic is going to be horrendous. I also think I just want a day at home to recoup because the constant fire anxiety and trauma is really taking it out of me. After this, I try to put everything out of my mind -- today was supposed to be a treat yoself day that I had planned months in advance.
12:00 PM - And we're on! Our DM recently moved to New York, so we Skype him and get down to business. It's been a few months since we last played and there's a lot of start and stop, "uh, wait… how do I do this again?" It's so much fun though. Not sure if there's any other D&D nerds here, but I play a half-elf bard who's a completely obnoxious theatre kid and he's A BLAST. (Please tell me about your characters if you do play!)
4:30 PM - We wrap up, I re-pack my stuff, they drop me off and BART and I'm on my way to the city.
5:30 PM - Arrive at Civic Center! Much earlier in the year I bought myself a ticket to Hamilton in SF for suuuuper cheap, which led to planning this treat yoself day and budgeting accordingly… which has turned out to have terrible timing, haha. I chose Villon for dinner because it looked tasty and it's right next to Orpheum. They have such a cool craft cocktail menu! I start off with their take on a pisco sour (my all time favorite drink and I love trying variations) and it's super good, but the tequila-based drink they call Billy Le Kid that I get second is AMAZING. For dinner I get their tonnarelli pasta, and dessert is the strawberry tart. The entire staff is incredible as well. Pricey but so worth it, highly recommend. I'm in heaven. With tip, $105.71
6:45 PM - Head over to Orpheum and find my seat. I was insanely lucky enough to see the Hamilton OBC before it really blew up -- the album hadn't come out and at the stage door the cast were genuinely surprised someone came all the way out from California just to see the show! I'm stoked to see a touring cast too. My taste in theatre tends to skew a little more… uh… experimental, let's say, and it's been so long since I got to see a proper Broadway show. Exciting!!
8:15 PM - I turn my phone back on at intermission to check fire news and my mom has texted to let my know my stepdad is trapped in my town after visiting his daughter. Traffic is totally jammed and he wants to know if he can stay at my house. I tell her yes, of course, but I won't be home until later. He says he's going to catch a movie and grab a bite to eat and we can meet up after. It sets off my fire anxiety all over again and I spend a lot of the second act of the show tearing up (although at least everyone else is too because it's The Sad Act.)
9:45 PM - That was so much fun. I loved how different some of the cast members' takes on their characters were -- Jefferson in particular was totally different from Daveed Diggs' interpretation and he was delightful. Their Hamilton was HUNKY AS HELL and their Burr was jaw dropping amazing. Everyone was! I book it out of the theatre and call my mom, who confirms traffic had died down by the time my stepdad got out of the movies, so he's on his way home. That's a small relief. We chat until my bus comes.
11:45 PM - Jesus, I completely forgot it's technically Halloween weekend. Getting from the bus stop to my apartment necessitates walking through the bar crawl and it is INSANE. Packed, full of wasted people and guys who start yelling at me. I'm officially cranky.
12:00 AM - So, so happy to be back in my own home. I drop all my stuff, go through an abbreviated night routine fast as I can, grab my weighted blanket and flop onto the couch. Too mentally keyed up to sleep even though my body is exhausted. Both kitties cuddle up and we watch the new Drag Race UK episode. I fall asleep sometime during the lipsync, wake up at 2:45 AM and put myself to bed properly.
DAILY TOTAL: $135.71

DAY SEVEN (SUNDAY)
8:00 AM - Up and immediately checking the fire news again. It's really bad. The diablo winds are causing it to spread faster than anyone can keep up and it's completely out of control. I got about two dozen Nixle alerts last night. I grab my laptop and make a couple posts on different social media sites about places to donate money online if you can't volunteebring donations by in person. My friends outside of California help spread the word, which is very kind of them.
9:30 AM - Shower, get dressed, eat oats with mashed banana and coffee while working through my plan for the day. My city is the main hub for evacuees, just like in 2017, and I'm going down to the shelter closest to me to volunteer for a while. 180,000 people have been evacuated so far. Last night our CEO started putting together a list of folks in the safe areas with room for storage/shelter and I offered my study up. He says I have a taker and he'll get me the info later.
12:30 PM - Meet up with another coworker while volunteering. We grab sandwiches from the makeshift cafeteria and sit on the curb outside catching up. A few more volunteers and a couple evacuees join us to eat and chat. I have a lot of strong feelings about this that are hard to put into succinct words. I believe disaster is an exercise in radical empathy. People are stripped down and vulnerable at all times. Everyone is in survival mode, but nobody is in a haze of their own personal shit. There is so much deep kindness and empathy in every interaction. I truly love where I live. This place is my home in every sense of the word. This hurts so, so much -- it did in 2017, it does now -- but seeing how our community comes together always makes me cry most of all. People are my religion because I believe in them.
3:00 PM - Wrap up my volunteer shift and head back home, heat up some chickpea tikka masala and roast a murasaki sweet potato for second lunch. CEO calls to let me know who's coming over -- it's one of my coworkers and his family who lost their home in the 2017 fire and have had to evacuate again. Luckily this time they had plenty of advance notice, so they were able to gather a lot of stuff. He comes over, we stash everything in my study and chat for a bit. His kids are super cute and like playing with my cats. They're headed south to stay with friends and traffic's a mess, so they leave pretty quickly. I collapse in bed and try to ignore everything.
4:30 PM - My dad's side of town has no power, so he comes over to charge up their phones. We just hang out for a couple hours, listen to records and shoot the shit. He confirms that every grocery store in the area is bare bones, so I won't be doing my weekly shop. Once he's all charged up, he heads home before it gets too dark out.
7:30 PM - The fire is at 55,000 acres, down to just 5% containment and shows no signs of stopping. More people I know have been evacuated. Winds got up to 96 MPH and while they won't be that severe after tonight, we'll still have 40 - 60 MPH winds well into the week. I spend about an hour getting sucked into the Fire Twitter hole before cutting myself off. In between loads of laundry, I call my favorite Japanese restaurant to see if they're open. They are, so I walk down to pick up a pretty large order -- dinner tonight, plus at least two more for the week. The owner has free pours of sake for everyone and I happily take one before returning home. I really cannot fathom cooking right now. With tip, $35.08
11:30 PM - I realize I've been reading fire updates ad nauseum for… I don't even know how long. Hours. I get sucked into it and have a hard time resurfacing if there's nothing else pressing going on. The fire is moving toward the exact area of the Tubbs fire and I can feel my own panic mounting higher and higher. I finally fold my last batch of laundry, shut down my computer and crawl into bed. I hope the winds calm and we're able to make some progress fighting it back. It takes a long time to fall asleep.
DAILY TOTAL: $35.08

Food & Drink: $198.93
Fun & Entertainment: $43.25
Home & Health: $22.48
Clothes & Beauty: $0

Reflection: This week really took a turn. I was looking forward to it all month because I had so much fun stuff planned -- and for the most part, I still got to do it -- but the fire looms over everything else. It's reignited trauma from two years ago, so I ended up being in a very weird, unstable place during the back half of this diary. As of posting this, the Kincade fire is still raging on and we're still experiencing diablo winds. I still don't want to say the city I live in (although now I feel it's pretty obvious, haha!) but it's safe where I am, no immediate danger. Hopefully it stays that way. Spending-wise, this was always going to be a high spend week for me with the plans I had, but the unplanned eating out more than usual added to it. Thinking about that went on the backburner as soon as the fires kicked up. I've been trying to be more cognizant since writing this and not mindlessly spend, no matter how stressful the situation is.
